HELPING YOUR CHILD SOCIALIZATION WHEN YOU YOURSELF TENDER TO ISOLATE YOURSELF
In our modern societies, loneliness affects many people, but mental health issues exacerbate isolation because they make everyday interactions, such as administrative tasks and general social exchanges, more difficult. Your child may also be caught in this isolation. Yet, to thrive, they need social connections, to develop friendships, and to open themselves up to the world.
He will feel reassured if he is not the only link between home and the outside world and if he knows you are in contact with other people. There are places where people who have experienced mental health challenges can meet; this is often essential support to prevent you from isolating yourself. CNIGEM, Clubs House, Maison Perchée.
For your child, having an activity, time dedicated to something for themselves such as a sport, artistic activity or leisure activity, is important. It is a source of balance.
"Bubble of Air" Stay, Etincelles asbl Belgium: Etincelles asbl offers 5-day stays for children whom the organization supports in their usual setting. The aim is to provide a genuine respite, supervised by several team members in a green and peaceful environment. Between walks, activities, and free time, two or three discussion groups are offered on a voluntary basis. This stay provides a break to step back, experience a different environment, and discover connections with the experiences of other young people.
